Reentry is an Afterthought

It is said that "Reentry Starts on Day One," but in reality reentry is an afterthought in our criminal justice system. I know this first hand because I served 24 years straight, and received no reentry services. If not for the support I received from family and friends, I would have been lost, and likely contributed to the 60+% recidivism rate in Pennsylvania.

The reality is that 90% of offenders will be released from prison. Therefore, Today's Prisoners truly are Tomorrow's Neighbors.

Providing basic reentry services to these Returning Citizens doesn't coddle them, it creates safer communities.

I started Tomorrow's Neighbors in order to fill a void in our criminal justice system.

Together, we can stop the cycles of crime an recidivism.

I totally agree and couldn't have stated it better. We need to educate the public about the reality. Presently all they hear are negative sound-bites from law and order candidates running for election.
